Haitian Creole/ French Interpreters for Legal Clinic
Are you passionate about immigrant issues? Are you fluent in Haitian Creole or French? On May 22, 2017, Secretary Kelly announced a brief, six month extension of the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) designation for Haiti. In order to rapidly respond to the needs of this vulnerable immigrant population Catholic Charities will offer free legal screenings and application assistance in their communities in advance of the federal deadline to apply (July 24, 2017). Volunteers will be needed to help with screening and filling out applications. Training will be provided in advance. Two shifts are available 9:00am - 1:00pm and 1:00pm - 4:00pm. You may sign up for one shift or both! From a past volunteer: "This was a very useful and helpful opportunity which I felt offered a lot of help to the people who sought your service.
