2014 Abraham House Christmas Party Volunteers
Volunteers are needed to help welcome, seat, and serve meals with a smile. Abraham House is currently providing access to healthcare, shelter, food, clothing, and soon, workshops on advocacy and immigration rights to 200 Honduran immigrants that arrived to the South Bronx nearly two months ago. Since this will be their first Christmas here, away from their families, and under difficult circumstances, Abraham House will be hosting a Christmas dinner on Friday, Dec. 19, 5pm to 8 pm.
With the help of Goya Foods and numerous volunteers this will be a joyful celebration, warm welcoming, and the first of many future Christmas charitable celebrations. Friday morning will see volunteers at Abraham House decorating the entire first floor and arranging the tables on loan from St John Chrysostom Church. The St John youth group is having a toy drive and will perform a 20-minute Nativity for the kids and parents. Abraham House residents and volunteers will cook while other volunteers will host and serve the meals. The dinner is from 5-8pm which concludes w the Nativity play and toy distribution.
