English and Civic Class Assistant
Volunteers are needed to help assist the Instructor to teach weekly classes in basic English for speakers of other languages in civics instruction. Classes should be fun, interactive - and most importantly, effective. Instructional methods may include lectures, worksheets, games, oral and written quizzes, and role plays. Successful candidates will use an eight-week curriculum specifically to help individuals prepare for and pass the government issued citizenship test and interview.
Additional Information:
Volunteers must be able to commit to two to three times per week for at least six weeks.
Ability to demonstrate sensitivity to individuals from diverse cultures is important.
Prior experience helpful but not required. Native or near-native proficiency in English required. Class sizes usually are 25 - 30 people.
