Feeding Our Neighbors: Healthy Food Fair

Help us prepare and teach healthy food options to our food pantry clients! This event will take place in the Kennedy Center (34 West 134th Street), which is just off the 2/3 line.
The food pantry at the Kennedy Center serves hundreds of needy New Yorkers each month with dignity by offering multiple choices in a “grocery store” experience – individuals choose between rice or pasta, greens or carrots, etc. Much of this community is unfamiliar with healthy eating habits, and they are also not well versed in how to prepare healthy meals. This “Healthy Food Fair” will teach some of these skills.
Participants will cycle through a series of learning stations and listen to a guest chef do a cooking demonstration.
Volunteers are needed to help set up the event, help the guest chef prepare meal samples, and also help guide participants throughout the event.
**This event is being sponsored through the generous donations of TIAA**
