Betances Houses: Senior Companion
Become a friend and companion to a sweet senior in the Bronx.
You can make a difference to one senior citizen this season by participating in our new Senior Companion program.
We are looking for compassionate and thoughtful volunteers to engage and help our seniors have an enriching life. Every interaction will be different as you meet a different senior every week. You can stroll through the park, play bingo, share music, and more.
Location - 537 East 146st, Bronx NY
Schedule - Flexible (morning and evenings/7 days a week)
Commitment - Once a week for 2 months
What you will do
- Help with grocery shopping
- Take a stroll through the park
- Engage in conversations as our seniors share stories of their past
- Work with our staff to create fun bingo and movie nights
- Are you a musician? You can play a mini recital for our residents at our center!
- Enjoy classic games like chess? You can bring these items to enjoy with your senior.
- And so much more!
Age Minimum (with Adult): 16+, Minimum Age:18+, Court Ordered Volunteer - Allowed
