2025 CCCS April Immigration Court Helpdesk (ICH) REMOTE Screeners
Catholic Charities Community Services (CCCS) Immigrant Legal Services provide professional, confidential legal consultations, representation and assistance to documented and undocumented immigrants, refugees and newcomers of all nationalities, ethnicities and religions.
We need REMOTE volunteers to conduct screenings during our Immigration Court Helpdesk individual information sessions which are provided in person through out the three NYC Immigration Courts. Throughout the month, we offer consultations to unrepresented individuals in non-detained court proceedings. The goal of the individual information session is to help individuals understand their legal situations and provide additional information about possible forms of relief or immigration court procedures.
As a volunteer, you will:
- Assist clients over the phone in filling out an intake form using a PDF screening tool online
- Assist up to six participants from 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM. (HOURS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE)
Skills/ Qualifications:
- Will need a working phone and personal computer
- A quiet place to take phone calls
- Have phone etiquette and a customer-service mindset
- Able to exercise patience and empathy while working with clients
- Ability to work independently; each phone screening will take 30-45 minutes
