Academic Tutors: ComUnidad Juan Diego
The Academic Support Program is a project designed to assist the children (elementary through high school) of the members of the ComUnidad Juan Diego, a program sponsored by the Marist Brothers and the Archdiocese of New York. It primarily serves the Latino community in East Harlem.
The program focuses on providing young people both life and study skills as well as tutoring in academic areas in which they are experiencing particular difficulty. We also hope to assist them with various academic projects such as term papers, etc. In order to ensure the success of this program we are in need of individuals who are able to serve as tutors in a variety of subjects for our students who range from middle schoolers to early high school.
Where: Our Lady Queen of Angels School, 229 East 112th Street
When: Minimum twice a month, every Thursday from 4:30 P.M. to 6:00 P.M.
What: Tutors are needed to commit to serving in the program weekly from a minimum of three months and maximum of seven.
Additional Information: Volunteers are expected to attend an orientation prior to the start of their volunteer work. Tutors may work with up to three students at time.
